Santa coming to North Bay
29/11/2009 by NBR Webmaster.
North Bay Railway are pleased to announce that Santa will be visting again, as he enjoyed his visit so much last time.
Trains to see Santa will depart from Peasholm Park Station and take passengers on a enjoyable festive ride to Scalby Mills, and recieve a present from the man himself.
It all starts on the 12th of December, running from 11am to 3pm on the hour, and continues on the 13th, and 19th - 23rd of December.
Children’s author Joe Coates has written a new book set on the North Bay Railway’s Santa Trains entitled ‘A Santa Special To Remember’, and will be giving readings 15 minutes before departure on December 12, 19, 21 and 22, which everyone on the train is welcome to attend.
Lesley Humphreys, the managing director said: “The children always love to go for a ride on the trains, and they’re always excited to see Santa waiting for them at Scalby Mills.
“He spends time speaking to each child individually and we always make sure that they get really good presents.
“We don’t make much money out of running the trains, we see it as a service to the people of Scarborough.”
We look forward to seeing you this festive month!

North Bay Railway nominated for Yorkshire Business Awards
14/05/2009 by NBR Webmaster.
The railways latest achievement is nomination for the annual Yorkshire Business Awards, which take place at the Royal Armouries Musuem in Leeds on the 26th of June.
Managing Director Lesley Humphreys said of the nomination “When I started out I had little knowledge of the railway industry. After securing funding and challenging a predominantly male industry I overcame many boundaries.
“I gave up everything to bring the railway back to life. Even in the recession we have seen a 56 per cent rise in visitors, which proves we are giving the public what they want, a fun and educational day out.
“Seeing the rundown site transformed into a successful attraction is a huge achievement. It is important to me and the team to celebrate how far we have come but also to represent Scarborough as a tourist destination, so the opportunity to enter the Business Awards was a must.
The Yorkshire Business Awards could acknowledge not just our successes but celebrate how we got here and how proud we are to bring joy for generations by one of the oldest transportation lines in Britain”
